About

Hello I'm Jo
nice to meet you.

I live in the village of Padfield, in the High Peak of Derbyshire
with my husband Andy and my son Sam.
My daughter lives nearby.

We are lucky to have an allotment just five minutes walk away.
Ours is at the top of a windy hill, and has a great view.
My husband would live there if he could!
We grow so many different vegetables that keep us all year.
Although plenty of favourites still elude us
we are nothing if not persistent!
We could also keep the village in rhubarb.
We share our apples with the birds
and our strawberries with friends.

Growing our own fruit and veg is hugely rewarding.
It also inspires us to be more creative in the kitchen.
When you have a glut of courgettes or leeks
they become the star of the show and rightly so.

We are also very passionate about not wasting food.
Cooking with our own produce had made us re-evaluate what we consume.
We consequently buy less and waste less.

Sustainability and seasonality is key to how we eat.

I also love to invent new recipes.
But how how many times have you made something
and think you'll remember that crucial ingredient or step
and then forget!
No? Well it happens to me all the time.
So I started writing down my recipes
and then decided to record them here.
